Brabus SLR Roadster & Brabus Ultimate 112

Brabus claims in its official press release that it borrowed the idea from the world of yachting: a big and extremely powerful boat paired with a small tender for shuttling passengers to and from the mother ship. But then the Brabus-tuned SLR Roadster is no boat. Equipped with a tweaked 5.5-litre supercharged engine consisting of special camshafts, a fuel-cooling system and a clutch-type limited-slip differential has been fitted. Power is rated at a staggering 650bhp for a 0 – 100 km/h time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 337 km/h.

The car has been reskinned in white carbon fiber, with additional carbon-fiber aero bits as a front spoiler and a rear apron with integral diffuser. Brabus mounts 255/30ZR20 front tires and 305/25ZR20 rear tires — your choice of Yokohamas or Pirellis — on its own Monoblock VI Platinum Edition three-piece alloy wheels.

The SLR’s cockpit has been upgraded with hand-stitched lipstick-red leather and black Alcantara. A flat-bottom Brabus sport steering wheel is trimmed in perforated leather and features paddle shifts. The dashboard, center console and door panels are made of carbon-fiber.

Awesome performance no doubt but the amount of usable power around town or in traffic is very little not to mention the hassles of parking such a wide and low beast which is where the “tender to the SLR” in the white BRABUS fleet comes in. The BRABUS ULTIMATE 112 drop-top two-seater based on the latest smart fortwo Cabrio represents the ideal complement for city driving. Finished in the same paint/fabric/leather including the waffle-patterned leather footwell trim, the tender gets a power bump to 112bhp, riding on 18-inch alloy wheels and performance tires. The automatic gearbox can be shifted manually via paddles on the Brabus sport steering wheel. While hardly in the same league as the SLR, the Smart is no slouch: 60 mph is reached in less than 9.5 seconds, with top speed electronically limited to 170 kmph. Other features include a height-adjustable coil-over suspension and a stainless steel sport exhaust.

Skoda Laura RS

You must have seen the new Skoda Octavia called the Skoda Laura in India and just for a second mistook it for the RS version and thought Skoda have launched the RS version, well not quite! Some dealers are selling the RS body kit, which includes RS bumper with integrated fog lights, 17 inch RS wheels on 225/45/17 Goodyear Eagle F1(Bad choice of tires) and rear spoiler. All this for 1.70Lacs after buy back of your old wheels and bumper. Doesnot seem much value for money, but dont be disappointed, the 170bhp Skoda Laura vRS is coming and its a diesel!

Next Chevrolet Optra

Yes Chevrolets next Optra is being tested and is going to replace the current model which was launched in 2003. The new Optra or Nubira looks a bit like the Civic from behind and Corolla from the front. Not a bad thing. However what is important is how good is the engine and gearbox, something which was never the strong point of this Chevy.

The 2.0 TCDi engine which does duty in the current Optra diesel and Captiva will be used in the new Optra as well. But GMDAT(General Motors Daewoo Auto Technology) need a good petrol engine which has good mileage and doesnot feel strained at higher revvs. This new Optra should take the fight to the Civic and Corolla as its going to be priced well with good standard equipment and features.

Honda Civic Type-R Modulo

This is the Honda Civic Type-R Modulo and it certainly looks fantastic. The exterior doesn’t have much, a rear spoiler, clear lens tail lamps and a set of hot 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped on 225/35 R19 rubber. Honda have removed everything they could in order to make the car lighter. The door panels were replaced with carbon fibre, the power windows have been shifted on the center console, the door handles gave their place to latches while the stock front seats were replaced by a pair of very impressive and lightweight Recaro bucket seats. I completely love the steering wheel, the speedometer looks similar to the Lamborghini Reventón and the gear shift indicator on the steering wheels looks alot like the one in the Ferrari Enzo. The presence of Electronically adjustable dampers can be seen in the LCD display where the normal 2-DIN head unit is. More pics after the jump.

Ford Fiesta 1.6

Ford is planning to launch the new Fiesta. The new Fiesta will have sharper styling and a more powerful diesel engine. The current Fiesta 1.4 diesel is just adequate as far as power goes. But the new Fiesta will have the 1.6 Duratorq engine.

The 1.6 Diesel produces 110bhp of power and 240NM of torque, which is on par with the Verna, but the Fiesta has much better handling, braking and steering feedback then the Verna. The 1.6 TDCi will be priced around 9.5Lacs. Expect it to take the fight to the Verna.

ICE Demo

Many ICE shops have demo’s but the best demo till now i have found is at Reliance Digital. The ICE is placed in such a manner, giving feel of a car, with recaro seats and ICE equipment placed on the center console.

This happens to be one of the best designs for ICE demo , obviously it doesn’t come close to the demo ICE cars, more about that later.

How Not To Sell Your Car

Came across this hilarious description by a person selling his M3 at Autotrader.

“This car has gotten me laid so much it is ridiculous. I would like pull up to a pimp club in Scottsdale and the valet would crap his pants, but I wouldn’t let him park it. I just leave it up front and make sure all the ladies saw me get out. I’m also totally ripped so that helps too. I inject myself with pure bull shark testosterone and lift 4 hours a day.

My diet also consists of 24 egg whites a day. I’ve got a killer 6 pack and some delts that you would not believe. I only hook up with 9s and 10s. Never less because I’m a winner! I’m not saying this car will do the same

Mini Driving On Water

Some time ago, you could see something very very ridiculous on the water. BMWs Mini Cooper. Yes, the car sailing in the waters. It is a new way of advertising the Mini brand by BMW. So they took a big Jetski and put the body of the Mini Cooper on top of it and made it look like there is a Mini driving in the water. More pictures after the jump.
