The New Indica Vista, after loads of testing is finally being launched soon. You can check the details of the car by checking out the pictures in this post.
I really don’t understand why Tata has used the word Vista for this model. Windows Vista has been a step backward for Microsoft. Also Tata has got a penchant for copying names from American computer companies. First the Nano from Apple and now this. I really don’t like this car for several reasons. Design seems to be copied from a Peugeot, not that’s a bad thing, but why didn’t they copy the interiors too. The mid mounted instrument cluster looks a thing of the past, and the quality is typical Tata. Look at that steering wheel, looks bad. The tail lamps look the same as all Tata cars, from the Indigo to the Nano with a minor colour change. Tata you just acquired Jaguar, didn’t you?
Tata has named the top end model Aura, which again is not impressive. Hopefully mechanically this car should be good. Tata should have improved on the gearbox and handling. But wait, they are copy pasting Fiats fantastic 1.3 Litre multijet engine with a change of name, Quadra Jet. Also on the line up will be 1.2 Litre Petrol and a re-worked version of 1.4 Litre Turbocharged IDI engine, for the Taxi segment, me thinks. It does get a host of features not seen in the segment like lumbar support (front seats), height adjustable driver seat, tilt adjustable steering wheel, a dual din audio system with USB and AUX input and a remote control, front and rear fog lamps as standard in the Aura. There will be slight price hike over the current Indica.

Dear Administrator,
I’m not convinced with your comments. Criticizing TATA has become a sort of fashion for all including you people. This is much better than the previous vehicles and this need a laud. Good move TATA. Three cheers.

Shanthan Reddy i do agree that Tata has taken a step in the right direction but the whole plastic quality is still not up to the mark and the central instrument panel is something which companies have stopped long time back since it really does not give advantage, instead it can be distracting. I will be test driving the car soon and will review it, we can then conclude how good the car is.

Dear Fas,
I see your comments on Cubic Capacity. Now you might read the review on CC. They say that the vehicle is better made and better than the swift. Maruti is not a great car maker either. You can even note the fact that even Maruti does not have any great engine making capability and has strapped on an engine from the Fiat ones. On the other hand TATA has dared the world and has made some good engines.
Regarding central instrument panel even the current Honda Civic has a centrally placed one. Its back retro time dear! Plastics except the door opening knobs much better compared to the swift. I believe, TATAs have opened a new era and keep watching, you’ll see the good side of TATAs now.
I have personally seen the car and am quite impressed. I do own a TATA Safari and Skoda Octavia. I previously owned a TATA Indigo marina. They are much comfortable. Maruti swift like other Marutis is absolutely cramped especially for >5.10ft persoss. Any time TATAs are much responsive and customer oriented when service is concerned and do all to replace parts even when not their fault all for the customers. Skoda’s are irresponsible.
So note

Thank you for your valuable suggestions Shanthan Reddy. Surely i am not saying that the Swift is a better car. While the swift is a good car it does lack in terms of fit and finish and majorly in terms of built quality. Maruti makes some great engines, yes it does but only petrol engines, wheras Tata makes neither of them as well. The New Tata Safari does have a very very good engine though, the 2.2VTT. The current Honda Civic does not have a centrally placed instrument panel. I am really cheering for Tata to make their cars better.
The Maruti Swift is quite cramped at the rear, no denying that and the Indica gives you more car for your money, but only if Tata had not used the easy way out with the central instrument cluster the car would be a bit better. I am not saying its bad, i was just a little disappointed since Tata have delayed the launch more then a year. As far as service goes, nothing comes close to a Maruti and this is no cliche, i really mean it Maruti service is the best in the country. The New Vista looks promising and i am sure it will sell well, i am going to test drive it soon and i am pretty sure its going to be impressive
