BMW India has announced the launch of the X3 SAV by June, 2011. The German automaker will assemble the X3 at its Chennai plant and plans to price the SAV aggressively. Audi sensed it and launched a cheaper variant of the Q5 last week. BMW will launch two variants of the X3, the xDrive25i Petrol which will be powered by a 2.5 liter, 6-cylinder engine producing 210bhp of power and 246Nm of torque. The BMW X3 xDrive20i will be powered by a 2.0 liter diesel motor producing 175bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. Both the X3 variants reach 0-100 kmph in around 9 seconds and can reach a top speed slightly over 200kmph. The BMW X3 xDrive25i will be priced at Rs. 41.1 lakh, whereas the BMW X3 xDrive20i will be priced at Rs. 42.1 lakh.
