The new 2012 Hond CR-V model was launched today at the Los Angeles Motor Show. The new 2012 Honda CR-V features some minor changes in the front and the rear fascia, more features and more functionality and increased fuel efficiency. The CR-V is going on sale from 15th of December at the dealerships. The new CR-V is powered by the same 2.4 litre i-VTEC 4 cylinder engine producing 185 BHP and 163 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to a 5 speed automatic transmission giving power to a FWD or an AWD system. The EPA-estimated fuel economy is rated at 23/31/26 mpg city/highway/combined which is an increase of +2/+3/+2 mpg compared to the 2011 CR-V. The car also features Eco-Assist that indicates o the driver when the vehicle is being operated in an efficient style via “green” visual cues surrounding the speedometer, and a selectable ECON Mode alters operating characteristics of the vehicle to support an efficient driving style.

The 2012 Honda CR-V features 60/40 Split Rear seats and many features like Bluetooth Handsfree Link phone interface, a full-colour intelligent Multi Information Display and a multi angle rear view camera with guidelines. The new car also features SMS text messaging function which can read received texts from compatible cell phones aloud over the audio system. Another first is the introduction of a Pandora® Internet Radio interface , compatible with the Apple® iPhone®, which works with the vehicle’s audio controls and i-MID. The CR-V is being offered in 3 variants; the LX, the EX and the EX-L. The CR-V LX is equipped with air conditioning, cruise control, Bluetooth HandsFreeLink, i-MID, remote entry, a 160-watt, a 4-speaker audio system, Motion-Adaptive Electric Power Steering (EPS). The CR-V EX adds an upgraded six-speaker audio system, power moonroof and 17-inch alloy wheels. The CR-V EX-L adds a leather-trimmed interior, 10-way power driver’s seat, automatic dual-zone climate control, 328-watt 7-speaker audio system with XM® Radio, Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System with Voice Recognition™ and FM Traffic, or a DVD Rear Entertainment System (not available with Navigation).

Apart from so many class leading features, the CR-V incorporates VSA, an electronic stability control system; an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist; side-curtain airbags; front-side airbags with a passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS). It also has an Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure that is designed to absorb all the energy in the event of a crash.
