The 2 wheeler division of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Suzuki Motorcycles has unveiled 2 new products at the 2012 Auto Expo that was held in Delhi. The 2 new models, the Hayate and the Swish were showcased by Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited. The Hayate 125 is targeted towards the mass market motorcycle segment while the Swish is made for the younger generation customers. At the event, the Suzuki pavilion was displaying their theme of “Apna Way of Life”, and these 2 new launches were a re-instatement of their efforts towards developing products from the customer’s point of view and celebrate the ways in which its customers’ lives relate to the products. The company also announced about its future plans on capacity expansion and efforts towards increasing its brand presence in India by offering customers value for money products. The company is also aiming to increase its annual capacity from the current 3.6 lakh units to 5.4 lakh units by 2013.

The new motorcycle showcased, the Suzuki Hayate which means “fresh breeze” in Japanese is powered by a 110cc engine. Suzuki Motorcycles state that the Hayate was an inspiration drawn from their legendary super sports bike, the Hayabusa. Though, the design elements being inspired from the Hayabusa was a bit hard to find out, what we expect instead is that the motorcycle is going to be fuel efficient and provide descent ride comfort over long distance commuting. It is expected to be also very competitively priced considering the recent focus of the bike manufacturers to target the 110cc segment once again. Honda has also revealed its 110cc product, the Dream Yuga and Mahindra Motorcycles has announced on its plan to re-launch the 110cc powered Stallio.

The Suzuki Swish, on the other hand is powered by a 125cc engine and was officially launched at the 2012 Auto Expo. Unlike the Hayate, the company is targeting the Swish for modern young adults of Urban India. Suzuki already sells the Access 125 in the same scooter segment and is planning to increase its market share with the introduction of another new model. The Swish 125 is priced at Rs. 45,431 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and will be made available at the dealerships by March, 2012. The Swish is going to compete directly with the Hero Pleasure and the new Honda Dio.
