The Indian passenger and utility car manufacturer, Mahindra has unveiled a range of Ssangyong vehicles at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. The company displayed 4 products from the Ssangyong stable namely the Rexton, Korando E, Actyon Sports and XIV-1 Concept. The Korando E is basically the electric version of the most successful SUV in the Ssangyong portfolio, the Korando. The first electric model of the Korando, the Korando C appeared at the 2010 Busan Motor Show and the current Korando E concept is based on that. The Rexton on the other hand is a more hard core 7 seater SUV for off-road lovers. It is powered by a 2.7 litre turbocharged common rail diesel engine that churns out 184 PS of power and 402 Nm of torque.

“The Delhi Auto Expo 2012 is an important platform for the Mahindra Group given that we are displaying our comprehensive suite of mobility solutions for the first time. Having harnessed distinct synergies with SsangYong, the showcase of the Rexton, the Korando E, the Actyon Sports and the XIV-1 Concept for the first time in India, bear testimony to the world class technologies that are now available across the group,” Dr. Pawan Goenka, President, Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors, Mahindra, said.

Mahindra also displayed the XIV-1 concept at the Auto Expo. The design characteristics of the concept match with that of a B segment SUV with Mahindra expected to price it very aggressively when launched. The key features of this concept include the 360 degrees rotating seats in addition to moving forwards and backwards enabling passengers to freely move and rotate all seats to tailor the cabin layout to their specific needs and the unique user interface that lets users control the car’s audio system, information display etc with the use of smart mobile devices. The Actyon Sports is the first pick-up of Ssangyong stable to be showcased by Mahindra. Powered by a 2.0 litre diesel engine it delivers a peak torque value of 360Nm maintained across a wide range of 1,500 to 2,800RPM. CO2 emissions in the newly tuned engine stands at 186g/km.
