The US based automotive giant, General Motors under the brand of Chevrolet launched the facelifted version of its popular MUV, the Chevrolet Tavera with prices starting at Rs. 7.51 lakhs. The Tavera’s Max variant is priced at Rs. 8.37 lakhs, while the LS variant is priced at Rs. 9.15 lakhs and the LT variant is priced at Rs. 10.34 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). Called the Chevrolet Tavera Neo 3, the facelifted version was first showcased by the company at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo that was held in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi in the month of January. The facelifted version of the Chevrolet Tavera gets many cosmetic changes at the front and back which include all new styled headlamps, a new front grille with chrome outline and new front bumpers. At the back, the car also gets new tail lamps and rear bumpers.
Additionally, the car also gets newly designed alloy wheels that match up with the added dynamism of the car. Under the hood, the Tavera gets 2 engine options. Either you can opt for the 2.5 litre turbo diesel engine or a 2.0 litre TDCi diesel engine (with VGT) that is sourced from Sonalika. The 2.0 litre TDCi diesel engine produces a peak power of 105.3 BHP at 4000 RPM and a healthy torque figure of 263.7 Nm at 2500 RPM. Overall, the car measures 4435mm in length, 1680mm in width and 1765mm in height making it quite spacious on the inside.
The car rides on 15 inch wheels with 205/65 R15 spec tires. Road undulations are taken care by a pair of double wishbone suspension at the front and semi-elliptical leaf springs at the rear. The car has a total kerb weight of 1660 kgs with stopping power being provided by disc brakes at the front and drum at the back. Other features available are two-tone interiors, remote fuel filter, folding rear seats, manual driver seat adjustment, remote central locking, rear defogger, rear washer/wiper etc. It will be available in total 4 variants for the Indian market. General Motors is offering a 3-years / 1 lakh kms (which ever is earlier) warranty on the Tavera.
