Audi India has launched the all new A4 in the Indian market today at a starting price of Rs. 27.33 lakhs (ex-showroom, Maharashtra) The new Audi A4 is based on Audi’s new 360 degree design philosophy according to which the latest A4 [B8] provided the styling guidelines for the creation of the new 2011MY A8 which itself inspired the design of the new 2012MY A6, which has now become the inspiration for the updated Audi A4. It’s a bit complicated so we rather not waste more time and talk straight about the vehicle.

Similar to the way Audi upgraded the new A5, the A4 also gets Audi’s new 6 point grille, sharper headlamps with LED daytime running lights, new sculpted front and rear bumpers and redesigned tail lamps with LED strips. In terms of overall dimensions, the car has become slightly bigger. The new A4 gets a wheelbase of 2.81 metres and the overall length varies from 4.7 to 4.72 metres depending on the variant. The width is 1.83m. The A4 gets a host of engine options for the customers to choose from.

The Audi A4 gets three engine options for the Indian market – 1.8-litre TFSI, 2.0 TDI and 3.0 TDI. The 1.8-litre TFSI engine produces 170 BHP of power between 3800 to 6200 RPM and 320 NM of torque between 1400 to 3700 RPM. It returns a mileage of 15.64 km/l according to ARAI. The 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine produces 143 BHP of power at 4200 RPM and 320 Nm of torque between 1750 to 2500 RPM. This engine has received an ARAI certified mileage figure of 16.55 km/l. These two engines send power to the front wheels and are mated to a Multitronic (CVT) gearbox. The 3.0-litre diesel mill generates 245 BHP of power between 4000 to 4500 RPM and 500 NM of power between 1400 to 3250 RPM. It is mated to a 7-speed S Tronic (DSG) transmission sending power to the wheels via Audi’s Quattro Permanent All Wheel Drive. Audi claims an average improvement of 10% in fuel efficiency of the new A4.
