Jaguar XF 2.2 India

Jaguar Land Rover have started local assembly of the XF in India. The Jaguar XF becomes the second JLR vehicle to go the CKD route and is being locally assembled at the company’s plant in Pune. The first JLR vehicle to be locally assembled is the Freelander 2, which went the CKD way in May 2011. The British manufacturer has chosen to locally assemble the 2.2-litre engined Jaguar XF in the country, which is a smaller 4-cylinder unit, offering better economy and reduced costs of manufacturing.

The Jaguar XF 2.2 i4 Td belts out 190 PS of power at 3500 RPM and 450 Nm of torque at 2000 RPM. This engine is mated to a 8-speed automatic gearbox. 0 – 100 km/hr takes 9 odd seconds while the top speed is 225 km/hr. This engine is more frugal too and the company has priced it aggressively at Rs. 44.50 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), which can give its German rivals quite a serious bit of competition. Not only is the XF more desirable than few of its competition, it offers more equipment too.

The 2.2-litre Jaguar XF now becomes the entry level variant from the XF line-up but the company has not skipped on equipment and has offered rear view camera, navigation system, touch screen, TV Tuner, paddle shifts on steering wheel (no other rival offers this feature), electric sunroof, full sized spare wheel, electric seats and electric rear screen blind as standard. Jaguar has also updated the 3.0-litre V6 diesel and 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine with an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox.
