While most people would tell you that Ford is launching the EcoSport on 4th March 2013, the truth is that the company is launching a special edition of the Figo to celebrate its third birthday. The Ford Figo Celebration Edition comes at a time when car sales seem to be on a decline and this move by the American car maker might give sales of the company’s entry level model a shot in the arm. Details about the Ford Figo Celebration Edition are still very sketchy but we expect the limited edition model to offer some exclusive features.

Ford could offer a new colour scheme on the Ford Figo along with discrete body graphics and some additional equipment, probably satellite navigation and a touch screen audio system (likely). The Figo Celebration Edition will be priced attractively as Ford celebrates the Figo’s success, a car which accounts for around 80% of sales for the company. The Figo is facing increased competition from new arrivals like the Chevrolet Sail U-VA and this celebration edition is coming at the right time to fend off rivals.

The Ford Figo was launched in 2010 and has taken the market by storm. The vehicle is offered with two engines, a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.4-litre diesel. The diesel engine is more popular among Figo buyers, offering splendid driveability and good fuel economy. Ford recently updated the Figo with a minor facelift, adding more features to the vehicle, including steering column mounted audio controls, alloy wheels and 2 new colours – Kinetic Blue and Bright Yellow. Both of these colours will be offered on the highly awaited Ford EcoSport which is due for launch anytime soon.
