2013 Tata Aria Facelift

The Tata Aria was known for its unending equipment list, good ride quality and spacious cabin. The image of a Tata car with high pricing didn’t work well for the Aria along with some issues of fit and finish quality. The Tata Aria Pride variant came with a whopping price tag of Rs. 16.62 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi), in that case, most of the buyers preferred the Toyota Innova instead. Tata Motors also managed to introduce a basic LX variant for Rs. 9.95 lakhs recently to increase the sales.

Tata Motors are planning a re-launch for the Aria with a new package. The updated Tata Aria was spotted recently featuring new tail lamp cluster and smoked headlamps. The engine will remain the same and is expected to produce improved power and torque output. The 2.2-litre Dicor engine currently produces a peak power output of 140 PS at 4000 RPM with a peak torque figure of 320 Nm at 1700-2700 RPM, coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission.

The Tata Aria hasn’t got any facelift since its launch. The company has given almost all its other vehicles an update, which leaves the Aria as the sole vehicle in the portfolio to not get an update. The Aria is Tata Motors flagship model and the company is betting big on improving sales amidst tough competition from more established rivals.

The updated Aria is also expected to get a new 6-speed automatic transmission which can help Aria to increase sales if Tata Motors manage to price the crossover aggressively. The Tata Aria is a direct rival to the Mahindra XUV500, which is currently selling in the market in good numbers. We can expect better pricing with the launch of the facelifted Aria offering a long list of features including a new infotainment system with touch screen display and improved quality of plastics.
