Land Rover has launched the 2013 Freelander 2 in India. The updated Freelander gets a host of changes, increasing the appeal of the British car maker’s entry-level SUV. The 2013 Land Rover Freelander 2 gets minor updates to the exteriors, which includes revamped lights, new 17-inch alloy wheels, new detailing on the grille, bars and fender vent. The company has added two new colours to the Freelander, namely Havana and Aintree Green. However the main changes are on the inside of the vehicle.

Land Rover has increased the amount of equipment on the Freelander 2. The SUV now comes with a new centre console, where the Terrarin Response dial has been replaced by switches. The instrument cluster is new with a 5-inch screen which displays various vehicle information. Intelligent electric parking brake has been added which ensures optimum cooling of the brakes. The interior has increased storage space too. A passive start system replaces the key resulting in keyless start/stop as long as the occupants have the key on them.

Land Rover has also added a rear view camera system with the display being shown on the infotainment system. This reverse system shows the boundaries of the vehicle along with the predicted path as you move backwards into a parking spot. The integrated navigation system gets a faster hard drive to ensure speedy operations. The Meridian audio system is offered with a choice of 380W (11-speakers) or 825W (17-speakers) output. A new 7-inch touch screen has been added which has CD, DVD, USB, iPod, Aux and Bluetooth connectivity.

Other new features on the 2013 Land Rover Freelander 2 include Xenon headlamps, daytime running lights and electrically adjustable front seats and arm rests. Land Rover offers two variants of the Freelander 2 in India both powered by a 2.2-litre TD4 diesel engine. Both engines churn out an impressive 420 Nm of torque at 1750 RPM and are mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Land Rover’s full time 4-wheel drive system is standard on both the Freelander trims.
