Honda Dream Yuga Test Ride Review

Honda has launched the 2013 Edition of the Dream Yuga commuter motorcycle, which has been given Honda Eco Technology (HET). The company claims a mileage of 74 km/l, which is a 2 km/l increase over the previous non HET model. However in real riding conditions, one can expect not more than 62 km/l from the Dream Yuga, which is powered by a 110cc single-cylinder engine producing 8.5 BHP of power and 8.91 Nm of torque, mated to a 4-speed gearbox. The Dream Yuga weighs 108 kgs and Honda is pinning its hopes on this motorcycle to boost volumes.

Honda has not increased the prices of the 2013 Dream Yuga and the motorcycle is priced at Rs. 45,101/- (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is offered in 3 varaints and tubeless tyres are offered as an option. The Dream Yuga is available in 5 colours – grey, red, black, brown and silver. Honda has sold 3 lakh units of the Dream Yuga in the first year of launch. We can expect the company to give HET to its other commuter focussed models in the near future. The company recently launched the Dream Neo in the same segment.

Honda is trying its level best to snatch the numero uno spot from its erstwhile partner, Hero MotoCorp. Majority of sales in the Indian 2-wheeler market come from volume products like 100cc motorcycles. Thus Honda is increasingly focussing on this segment and plans to overtake both Bajaj Auto and Hero MotoCorp by 2016. The Japanese 2-wheeler giant has an aggressive product strategy and launches new products every quarter.

Honda NEo is already a HET Engine. They just imposed that engine into Yuga. Anyway its the best 100 cc class bike in India. They became a lit bit closer to the second position by this machine. But we need more gadgets in this bike.

Best 100cc is Discover 100T! mileage/power/performance combo offered by Discover 100T is simply not matched by competition. If Bajaj releases another version with tubeless tyres & disc brakes, that would be ideal 100cc bike for significant number of people.

The major advantage of HET is the increased life span of engine oil since the friction is very much less in HET compared to other Engines. In case of refinement and durability they will be a huge step forward. Thanks for Honda for introducing such modern tech to Indian siblings, but we need more youth oriented features as bajaj do in their bikes.

Don’t buy Honda Dream Yuga Bike. Never buy this bike, very bad build quality cheap parts and very bad service, i purched this bike in 2013 after 6 months giving problem like chain, tyres, engine head leakage , service center is not solve these problem every time they just wash the bike and handover to you, so frnds take my advise and never waste your hardearn money on this bike, hero is better than honda, my 13 year old hero passion still running without any single trouble . it is worst invention of Honda. Built quality from a single screw to engine all parts are very low built quality. Many mistakes in design which are seen by any blind human.
