2014 Fiat 500L and 2014 Fiat 500L Trekking

Fiat is on the race to expand its 500 range with products in varied segments. The Fiat 500 was born in 1957 and was axed in 1975, only to be revived in 2007 and there have been many versions of the two-door small car till date. At a recent event in Milan coinciding with the anniversary of the Fiat 500, Fiat presented the 500L Living, a 7-seater MPV. The event had witnessed many top officials from the Italian company. The 500L Living is an extension of the Fiat 500L, which is a 5-seater mini MPV. The 500L, launched in 2012 was among the first in the 500 family to feature five doors.

The ‘500’ will now be represented as a separate range. A major transformation of the 500 line-up awaits in the form of a four-door B-segment car. This car will be high in quality and features. If speculations have their way, it is also heard to be a potential Punto replacement. This model is expected to surface by 2015. The range is only about to expand with a station wagon, MPV and a mini-SUV in the pipeline. The mini-SUV, was showcased in 2012 and will go on sale by 2014 as the Fiat 500X.

Fiat hasn’t left behind the original 500 and a replacement model for the A-segment will also be presented. The 500 family has been continuously evolving and offered in various new interpretations. The 500 Abarth, 500 by Diesel, 500 by Gucci, the 500 twin air, 500 GQ are a few to name. The newly presented 500L Living and 500L Trekking are diversifying the family further. The Living will be powered by a 900cc, 105 BHP twin-air turbo petrol engine. There are diesel engines on offer too. A 1.6-litre, 105 BHP Multijet-II and another 1.3-litre, 85 BHP Multijet-II engine also offered as an automatic.
