Jaguar has launched the F-Type in India today, offering it in two versions – V6 S and V8 S. There is a base V6 variant available overseas but not offered in India. The F-Type is the return of Jaguar’s 2-seater sports car, after a gap of almost four decades. The sports car is being brought to India via the CBU route. The Jaguar F-Type has received praises for its performance and styling. The company intends to compete with the Audi R8 and Porsche 911 with the Jaguar F-Type.
The Jaguar F-Type is loaded with features and technology which make it a very appealing vehicle for those who want a performance sports car without compromising on luxury. The F-Type comes with many unique features like pop-out door handles, rising central AC vents and active exhaust note (with a touch of a button, the exhaust sound becomes even louder). Other features include an 8-inch touch screen infotainment system, 14-way adjustable power seats, paddle shifters, Meridian sound system, etc. The soft top roof retracts and folds in just 12 seconds to give you a top down motoring experience.

The F-Type V6 S uses a 3.0-litre Supercharged V6 engine to output 380 PS of power and 460 Nm of torque. This motor accelerates from 0 to 100 km/hr in just 4.9 seconds, with the top speed being 275 km/hr. The F-Type V8 S is even quicker with the 5.0-litre Supercharged V8 engine producing 495 PS of power and 625 Nm of torque. This motor gives the F-Type a 0-100 km/hr time of 4.3 seconds, with a top speed of 300 km/hr. Both engines are mated to a 8-speed QuickShift automatic gearbox. While performance is exhilarating, it’s really the F-Type’s steering response and sound track which makes you weak in the knees.
The Jaguar F-Type has been priced at Rs. 1.37 crore for the V6 S model (simply called F-Type S) and Rs. 1.61 crore for the F-Type V8 S (ex-showroom Mumbai, pre-octroi). Jaguar has registered a sales growth of 68% in the first quarter of this fiscal year in India. The sales growth comes from the locally assembled XF 2.2.
