Suzuki Swift Sport 5 Door Front

Suzuki has recently introduced a minor facelifted model of the Swift hatchback in the UK which is followed by the Japanese market debut. The company has launched the new model in Japan along with new fuel efficient features, specifically for the Japanese market. Suzuki has featured a newly developed DJE (Dual Jet Engine) technology that is collaborated with ENE-CHARGE system. The dual tech has significantly improved the mileage by up to 21 percent on the new Swift over the earlier standard model. The impressive technology is featured only with the 1.2-litre, K-Series petrol engine.

Suzuki has already introduced ENE-CHARGE (Energy Charge) technology on the Wagon R Stingray last year in Japan. So how this DJE and ENE-CHARGE boosts the mileage up to 21 percent? The dual jet engine technology supplies the fuel to two intake ports per cylinder rather than one, essentially increasing vaporization of the fuel that results in a more efficient combustion. On the other hand, the ENE-CHARGE module is a regenerative braking mechanism with idling stop system.

The application of DJE with ENE-CHARGE technology has boosted the mileage of the 1.2-litre petrol Swift to an impressive figure of 26.4 km/l. The company has also upgraded the instrument console that shows the economic speed band with changing dial colours. Suzuki offers the Swift in 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine options in Japan which is the same in India. However, a mighty RS variant is also on offer in 3-door and 5-door variants, powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine that comes with ESP (Electronic Stability Program) as standard.

The drivetrains of the 2013 Suzuki Swift are also offered in a wide range of 5-speed manual, CVT, 2WD and 4WD. The other changes to the Japanese Swift are similar to the UK bound model. They include a re-designed front bumper with integrated DRLs in the fog lamp housing and new seat upholstery. The Swift price range in Japan starts from 1,279,950 yen and goes to 1,787,100 yen (Rs. 7.54 – 10.54 lakhs in India). We can expect the facelifted model to arrive early next year.
