The launch of the facelifted Renault Fluence seems very close in India as recently the model was spotted outside Renault’s manufacturing facility in Chennai. The Fluence is Renault’s flagship sedan in India, although the company has not succeeded in making a difference in the D-segment. The French automaker has given subtle changes to the facelifted Fluence and fortunately the new model is parked right next to the outgoing Fluence which makes it easy to compare both the generations in the image.
The 2013 Renault Fluence gets subtle changes and looks more appealing in comparison to its old bizarre design. However, Renault has not flaunted new body lines or more aggressive curves on its body. The distinctive changes on Fluence’s front fascia are the new triple housing front bumper that has black glossy front grille in contrast along with the large Renault badge on it. The petal shaped headlights are similar to the current model but enhanced with black inserts and projector headlamps.
The front bumper of the 2013 Renault Fluence sports new separate fog lamp housings while the DRLs are placed to adorn the complete blend. The rear of the new Fluence does not get an extensive redesign except minor changes like new tail light insert, chrome finish and diminutive changes to the bumper shape. The interiors have got updates too which although minor, do make the cabin more pleasant in appearance. The new Fluence will be powered by the same 1.5-litre, 110 PS diesel engine and 2.0-litre, 137 PS petrol engine with improved emission levels.
Renault has been offering a 6-speed manual for the diesel and advanced CVT-II with 6-speed manual mode transmissions (only for petrol model) which will be carried on to the new version. The facelifted Renault Fluence is expected to reach Renault showrooms by September in India. The rivals of the Renault Fluence in the Indian market are the Chevrolet Cruze and the upcoming Skoda Octavia, no doubt both the models have admirable presence in the market.
