You read it first on MotorBeam. Land Rover will launch the second generation Range Rover Sport in India in the last week of October. The British automaker plans to offer the all new Range Rover Sport with two engine options, a 3.0-litre SDV6 diesel engine which produces 292 PS of power and 600 Nm of torque and a 5.0-litre Supercharged V8 petrol engine which belts out 510 PS of power and 625 Nm of torque. Both these engines use an 8-speed automatic gearbox, with steering mounted paddles helping you to manually take control of things. You can also shift gears using the gear stalk which isn’t a rotary dial like on the Range Rover.
Land Rover proudly calls the all new Range Rover Sport as the “fastest and most agile Land Rover ever”. We drove the sporty SUV earlier this year at Jaguar Land Rover’s Gaydon test track and came out thoroughly impressed by the performance and handling of the Sport. The Range Rover Sport darts into corners with precision and the steering is very communicative too. What makes the Sport even more attractive is the capability to go any-where just like other Land Rover products. The Range Rover Sport takes design cues from the new Range Rover and Evoque.

The Range Rover Sport is expected to be priced around Rs. 1.4 crores and it’s only competitor is the Porsche Cayenne. Loaded to the gills in an understatement here as the Range Rover Sport has such a long list of features including ultrasonic sensors for water level monitoring, 3D audio sound stage, torque vectoring, traffic sign detection, heads-up display, etc. The new Range Rover Sport is a massive improvement over its predecessor. It is also 500 kgs lighter which helps in reducing fuel consumption. One can opt for 2 extra seats in the last row to boost flexibility even further. Thus the new Range Rover Sport is a vehicle which can do multiple things and excel at all of them.
