Tata Motors has forayed into the Indonesian car market with the launch of three products right away. The Indian manufacturer has introduced the Aria, Vista and Safari Storme in the growing car market of Indonesia. Tata Motors Distribusi Indonesia (TMDI) is the designated distributor of Tata Motors passenger vehicles in Indonesia. Last year, the carmaker had announced their plans to enter the Indonesian market. The company has tested various products in the Indonesian road conditions and are confident about the introduction of the Aria, Vista and Safari Storme in the new market.

Tata Motors have introduced the Indica Vista hatchback as Tata Vista GZX, featuring a 1400cc petrol engine only. This 1400cc S-Jet petrol motor is seen on the Manza sedan, producing 89 BHP of power and 116 Nm of torque. However, the automaker doesn’t offer the Vista in India with the 1.4-litre petrol motor, instead, it comes with a 1172cc petrol engine. The Tata Aria is being offered only in the Pure 4×2 trim in Indonesia featuring the same 2.2-litre DiCOR engine producing 140 BHP of power and 320 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

In India, the Tata Aria sees poor demand with single digit sales every month in the recent months. Tata Motors has high hopes with the Aria in the Indonesian market. The Safari Storme is being offered in the EX trim only, which is the mid-level trim without 4×4. It features the same engine as the Aria with a VariCOR badge. Tata Motors have introduced five dealers in Indonesia and have a target of 15 dealerships by March 2014. The company is also setting up 40 additional workshops by March 2014 for better after sales network in the new market.
