2014 Hero Super Splendor

Hero MotoCorp hasn’t left any stone untouched for this festive season, refreshing almost all its products, even if it means some of the updates are very minor. The Splendor is an important motorcycle for Hero as it accounts for a majority of the company’s sales. The Splendor brand itself is so valuable that Hero can keeping selling the bike in some demographics based on the name itself. Obviously the Splendor brand is very old and thus people are able to relate to it as a product which is reliable, offering good fuel economy.

While Hero’s Splendor is more popular when powered by a 97.2cc engine, India’s largest 2-wheeler manufacturer also offers a 125cc engine in the bike, calling it the Super Splendor. This 125cc mill produces 9 BHP of power at 7000 RPM and 10.35 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM. The engine isn’t the most powerful for a 125cc bike as some 100cc motorcycle produce more power. The Hero Super Splendor gets minor updates for 2014, including new graphics, new dials on the instrument cluster and the addition of a side stand indicator.

The Super Splendor is offered in only one variant which gets electric start as standard. The updated model comes with black alloy wheels and the company also claims the brakes have improved, with 130 mm drums being used at both the front and the rear. Currently the Super Splendor is priced at Rs. 53,700/- (ex-showroom, Mumbai) which makes it affordable for those looking for a 125cc bike in rural markets. The updated model will go on sale by the end of the year and the Super Splendor competes with the likes of the Bajaj Discover 100T, Honda CB Shine and TVS Phoenix.
