Mahindra XUV500 News

Mahindra has come several steps forward after it launched the Scorpio in 2002. Till that time, they were majorly known for their tractors and other farm equipment. But after the Scorpio came into existence, there was no looking back in the passenger utility segment. Mahindra, as a manufacturer is always known to take customer feedback positively and improve their products accordingly. The company has devised a strategy to have a product in every price range and also address quality issues so that they can compete with global rivals more effectively.

After Mahindra acquired SsangYong in 2011, their technical database is now more effective and they are all set to roll out new models by the end of 2015. Mahindra is currently working on the compact SUV, codenamed S101, to compete with the Ford EcoSport and the Renault Duster. After the launch of XUV500, which took over as the flagship from the Scorpio, Mahindra is going great guns to offer quality products at an affordable price. But still there is a lot of room to address the quality of plastics that Mahindra offers in its flagship model.

Over the last 10 years, we have seen how the Scorpio has grown. It is now offering a less noisy engine, good fuel economy, better suspension, low NVH levels, better interiors and a good performing mHawk engine. We see the XUV500 also offering improved quality and addressing few niggles recently compared to the launch model. Mahindra is striving to eliminate all the quality gaps and the company knows that if it has to stay on top, it has to focus on quality and offer new models. As Mahindra has no new launches till FY16, it can focus more on improving the current lineup and we are sure the next generation Scorpio and Bolero will be much better products.
