Yamaha FZ V2

Yamaha has showcased the FZ-S Version 2 Concept at the 2014 Auto Expo. Now we broke the exclusive news about the company working on an upgrade for the FZ and our sources informed us that this time, the update to the motorcycle would be focussed on the technical aspects, rather than cosmetic. The Yamaha FZ Version 2 does show more of an aesthetic update to the FZ series of bikes. However one close look and we know what to expect from the updated Yamaha FZ, due for launch in the later half of 2014.

The paint scheme on the Yamaha FZ-S Concept is purely for eye-ball purposes and we shouldn’t expect such kind of dual colours to be offered on the bike when it goes on sale. Look past the two-tone paint job and you will notice ‘Version 2.0’ written on the front forks. The bike still doesn’t have a disc brake at the rear which is quite disappointing. The engine too is the same with power being fed by a carburettor. We do expect Yamaha to boost the power output marginally on the FZ to improve its performance.

The things which the upgraded Yamaha FZ will carry include a new split seat which is visible on the FZ-S Concept. The bike also gets a new all digital instrument cluster and many are now tired of the existing bike’s small console. The mirrors are uniquely shaped and the concept also gets a re-designed mudguard and a slightly different exhaust. There are likely to be more changes, as we reported earlier, most of them will be technical. The upgrades to the FZ will help Yamaha fend off competition from the upcoming Suzuki Gixxer and Bajaj Pulsar 150 NS.
