Giugiaro Clipper Front

Italdesign has unveiled the Guigiaro Clipper MPV concept at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The futuristic concept is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform. In terms of design, it seems like the Italian automaker has literally taken inspiration from Volkswagen. The styling up front with simple lines and squarish headlights assembly reminds one of Volkswagen hatchbacks, while the rear is derived from Audi. However, the exteriors are tastefully done and with the simple design philosophy, it looks rather practical instead of being a usual swanky concept.

As far as practicality is concerned, the Guigiaro Clipper is a six-seater MPV and has a practical layout of three rows of two seats. For cargo space, the last two rows can be folded down to make 900-litres of luggage capacity, which is excellent. Now there are very few MPVs that offer luxury while being practical. The Guigiaro Clipper has some gadgets and gizmos to keep the passengers entertained. The front seats have integrated tablets and the dashboard is partially made of various screens for infotainment. The styling on the inside is minimalistic yet classy.

In terms of dimensions, the Guigiaro Clipper is 4534 mm long, 1914 mm wide and 1551 mm tall. Powering the Clipper are two electric motors that produce 150 BHP each. The two units are placed one on each axle. The driving range offered by these electric motors is 504 kms with a claimed top speed of 204 km/hr. Italdesign has also showcased a two-door version of the Clipper at the Geneva Motor Show, which is termed as the Clipper Ducati edition attached with a towing trailer for the Ducati Panigale 1199 S.
