Ford EcoSport 1.5 AT Test Drive Review

The Ford EcoSport has created ripples in the compact SUV segment ever since its launch one year back. The vehicle provides a great package in terms of features and engine options. The demand for this baby SUV is quite high in India that waiting periods were being quoted anywhere between 8-12 months until Ford India recently jacked up the production capacity at their Chennai plant. Ford also exports 1 out of every 5 units produced in India. Ford will launch a facelift of this mini SUV which could enter the markets by the first quarter of 2016.

This facelift of the EcoSport is going to be a major update and not just a simple bumper and grille redesign job. The exteriors will be revised to make the vehicle look more rugged and robust. Ford might even provide a sunroof as an option on the vehicle since the company had displayed an EcoSport which featured a sunroof at the Auto Expo. The interiors will also be updated and the dashboard design might get slight revisions. We can also expect better quality materials being used in the cabin of the updated EcoSport. Ford will also incorporate some new gizmos and tech in the facelift and that should surely increase the vehicle’s appeal.

The 2016 Ford EcoSport might get daytime running lights (DRLs) as a standard feature on the top variants and projectors should be available as an option. Currently the Ford EcoSport is available in Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium (O) variants. The facelift will not get mechanical changes. Ford presently uses the 1.5-litre petrol engine, 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre oil-burner to power the compact SUV. The Ford EcoSport is priced from Rs. 6.19 lakhs to Rs. 9.49 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
