Suzuki Alivio Spy Shot China Rear

One of the most awaited launches this year from Maruti Suzuki’s stable, the C-segment sedan Ciaz will make its official debut in the coming months. The car will also be retailed as the Suzuki Alivio in the Chinese market which will see a year end launch and was recently spotted testing with camouflage in the country. However, the auto paparazzi managed to snap and reveal the interiors of the China spec Alivio along with images of the under-body.

The Suzuki Alivio was spotted last week sans camouflage, leaving very little to the imagination. The China spec model sports projector headlamps, instead of the conventional unit and will get additional chrome inserts all around for a premium appeal. Measuring 4545 mm in length, the sedan is longer than the Honda City but surprisingly gets the tail light design looking strikingly similar to the new City. The Ciaz rides on 205/150-R16 tyres wrapped around alloy wheels.

The interiors on the other hand are a major departure from its predecessor, the Maruti SX4. The quality of plastic and materials has improved dramatically and the cabin has been given a premium appeal all around. The Alivio comes with all-black interiors as opposed the Ciaz’s dual tone beige-black treatment. The China spec model also gets rear air-con vents like the Ciaz. Despite being longer than the City, the rear seat legroom seems to be more in comparison with the Vento, which could be disappointing. The boot space looks spacious and will easily gobble up two large suitcases.

Coming to the powertrain under the hood, the Alivio will be powered by a 1.6-litre G-Innotec engine that produces around 118 PS of power. The model spotted on test used a CVT transmission, but there will also be 5-speed manual gearbox available. While the Indian spec Maruti Ciaz spied earlier was loaded with features on the inside, the Alivio seemed rather bland as it missed out on steering mounted controls, 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, start-stop system and automatic-climate control. The Alivio did receive a dead pedal though.
