2014 Volkswagen Polo Facelift Exteriors

Volkswagen dealers across the country have started accepting bookings for the 2014 Polo that is scheduled to launch on 15th July. With upgraded exteriors and most importantly a new engine on offer, the Polo facelift is expected to be refreshing and in-line with the international version that made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, earlier this year. The booking amount is reportedly Rs. 50,000/-, while deliveries are promised to commence by the end of July.

The dealers have also confirmed that the 2014 Polo will be offered in three variants which include the Comfortline, Highline and Highline+. The base Trendline variant has been discontinued. Back in April this year, the company had stopped taking bookings for the Trendline variant, since the model was not equipped with airbags and now it seems Volkswagen does not plan to bring it back either. All variants on the Polo will be fitted with driver and front passenger airbags as the company had promised.

Another major change on the 2014 Volkswagen Polo will be the new 1.5-litre diesel engine. A derivative of the 1.6-litre diesel unit found on the Vento and Polo GT TDI models, the 1.5-litre engine is expected to be available in two states of tune namely 90 PS and 105 PS and the standard Polo will come with the former power output. The engine will continue to be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while an automatic is not on the cards. The 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol unit will continue to be on offer as well.

On the outside, the 2014 Volkswagen Polo gets a redesigned bumper with a new chrome strip, reworked grille with blacked horizontal slats. The rear on the other hand gets a redesigned bumper, while the tail lights get mild updates. The car also sports new alloy wheels. On the inside, changes include the new flat bottom steering wheel, reworked centre console with silver accents and the new white illumination on the LCD screen instead of red seen on the outgoing model.
