Being awaited for a really long time, Bajaj Auto is all set to launch the Pulsar 200 SS in the Indian market in November 2014. The bike will be the most expensive Pulsar till the Pulsar 400 SS arrives in the first half of next year.

A new Bajaj Pulsar launch is always exciting because quite a few people are waiting for the new motorcycle to go on sale. After having teased us for an insanely long time (with spy shots), Bajaj Auto has finally shown signs of launching the Pulsar 200 SS in the Indian market. We at MotorBeam have maintained that the Pulsar 200 SS will go on sale in November and now Bajaj has showcased the bike at a private event which was most likely for the company’s dealers (the event happened in Turkey). Rakesh Gowda shared the pictures of the bike which was displayed in a closed hall one evening. One can safely say dealer training will start anytime soon.

The Pulsar 200 SS resembles its elder sibling, the Pulsar 400 SS to quite an extent. In fact, there is little to differentiate both the bikes and the 200 SS badging is the immediate giveaway of the smaller motor. The supersport styling will please most with those twin projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, twin L-shaped tail lights and a sharp full fairing. Powering the Pulsar 200 SS will be the same 199.5cc, triple-spark, single-cylinder engine but Bajaj will employ fuel injection instead of using a carburettor.

The Pulsar 200 NS outputs 23.52 PS of power and 18.3 Nm of torque, we expect the 200 SS to produce similar numbers but the FI model belts out 24.4 PS. The expected on-road Mumbai price of the Pulsar 200 SS is Rs. 1.30 lakhs and Bajaj could offer ABS as an option although it seems unlikely they would (since the KTM RC 200 doesn’t get ABS). 2014 seems the year of full faired motorcycles for Bajaj Auto with the company launching the sportier versions of the Duke 200 and Duke 390 in the country just last month. The Pulsar 200 SS will be followed by the launch of the Pulsar 150 NS and the former will rival the Yamaha R15 and Hero Karizma ZMR.
