The front fascia gets a fresh new look with changes to the grille and bumper

Tata Motors has been working on the 2015 Safari Storme facelift for quite some time now and the vehicle will get a host of changes as well as mild tinkering to the exteriors for a fresh new look. While the launch is still some time away, an undisguised test mule of the SUV was captured revealing the changes to the front fascia. Most notable changes include the new honeycomb mesh grille and the revised bumper that sports a more compact design. There are no changes to the dimensions of the SUV otherwise.

Inside the cabin, the facelifted Safari will see a new infotainment system (from the Aria) and front facing third row seats. Under the hood, earlier reports suggested that the Safari Storme facelift will come with the updated 2.2-litre VARICOR diesel engine from the Aria that produces 150 PS of power (current Safari makes 140 PS) and 320 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. There is also a possibility of an automatic variant on the Safari Storme, however, no details on the same have been available yet.

Tata Motors will continue to offer the Shift-on-Fly Four-Wheel drive system on the Safari Storme facelift, while we also expect a new 4×2 base variant to be added for aggressive pricing. Despite being one of the good products in the market, the Safari Storme could never really take off in the segment, wherein rivals like Mahindra’s Scorpio and Renault Duster have managed to do consistent numbers. With the Scorpio all prepped up with an update, Tata might just do necessary tweaks to get the Safari Storme facelift right in the market this time around.
