DSK does not want to confuse customers by launching Hyosung and Benelli products in the same segment at the same time and will concentrate on the Benelli offerings for now.

You read it first on MotorBeam. Making big news last month by bringing legendary motorcycle maker Benelli to India, DSK has now made alternations to its plans for the Indian market with regard to South Korean partner Hyosung. Unlike its initial plan to bring Hyosung’s 250cc offerings by the middle of this year, the Indian two-wheeler company has now pushed the launch of the Hyosung GD250N and RT250D to 2015. The reason cited for the delay has been the company’s concentration on the Benelli range, which will be offering products in the same segment as that of Hyosung.

Italian manufacturer Benelli will be entering India with a range of street-fighter and cruiser motorcycles spanning across different segments. The most prominent among the models has been the BN302 twin-cylinder street-fighter motorcycle that will be competing against the likes of KTM Duke 390, Suzuki Inazuma and the Kawasaki Z250 in the segment. The Hyosungs GD250N single-cylinder on the other hand is also a street-fighter offering targeted at the KTM Duke 200. With both the bikes being naked offerings, DSK does not want to confuse the customers and has chosen to bring the models from South Korea next year.

Apart from the GD250N, Hyosung also had plans to launch the RT250D in the country, which have been postponed to next year. The RT250D is essentially a dual-purpose offering based on the RT125D that was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in February. Targeted at a niche set of buyers, RT250D will be one-of-its-kind offering in the quarter-litre segment that is flooded by naked and full-faired options. The company has not announced a specific timeline for the launch of the GD250N and the RT125D, but we do expect a clearer picture to emerge once the dust from the Benelli launch settles.
