2015 Suzuki Jimny
The Suzuki Jimny continues to be on sale 16 years after it was originally launched

While the product lifecycle is shrinking around the world drastically, there are some models that manage to retain the old school charm and even sell without much effort despite being decades old. One such model is the Suzuki Jimny that has been updated for the 2015 model year and continues to remain in production 16 years after it was first introduced in the market. To put into perspective, other models have completed three generation lifecycles during the same period.

The 2015 Suzuki Jimny has been updated to comply with the European regulations along with the addition of new features to the exteriors and interiors of the off-roader. The model now gets a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and a Gear Shift Indicator (GSI) system that helps improving the fuel economy, while Electronic Stability Control (ESC) has been added as a standard safety feature across the lineup.

The 2015 Jimny gets no changes to the powertrain and continues with the same 1.3-litre petrol engine producing 85 PS of power and 110 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic transmissions and is offered in two-wheel drive as well as four-wheel drive options. Coming to fuel economy, the Jimny returns 14 km/l on the manual mode and 13.7 km/l on the automatic mode (UK drive cycle), while CO2 emissions are limited to 162 g/km and 167 g/km on the manual and automatic mode respectively.

Available in SZ3 and SZ4 versions in the UK, Suzuki has added two new colours namely Steel Silver and Khaki Green to the palette as well as new 15-inch alloy wheel design to the SZ4, while the SZ3 trim gets new seat fabrics. Prices for the 2015 Jimny too have seen a marginal increase over the outgoing version with prices starting at 12,195 Pounds on-road (Rs. 11.88 lakhs) for the base SZ3, while the top-end SZ4 automatic costs 14,545 Pounds (Rs. 14.17 lakhs)
