The 2016 Innova gets a new touchscreen infotainment system as well as a multi-function steering wheel and comes as a major step up over the outgoing model.

The touchsreen system and multi-function steering could be limited to the top-spec version

Despite the advent of new offerings in the segment, sales of the very potent Toyota Innova have been least affected with the MPV churning out consistent numbers month after month. However, it’s a given that the current generation Innova has been stretched a tad bit too long even by Toyota’s internal standards and work on the next generation model has commenced with the launch scheduled in 2016. While the exteriors have been spotted in camouflage, a new spy shot revealing the dashboard and other details has surfaced on the internet.

As seen in the spied image, the 2016 Toyota Innova gets a completely new dashboard featuring a large touchcreen system in the centre. While details on the unit and its features are unavailable right now, it is more likely that the touchscreen infotainment system would be restricted to the top-end variants alone. In addition, the 2016 Innova also gets a new multi-function steering wheel along with new rectangular air-con vents, which lends a more upmarket look to the cabin.

The 2016 Toyota Innova will be a major overhaul not only in terms of features, but mechanically and aesthetically as well. The MPV will continue to ride on the ladder-on-frame chassis, but with alterations for better ride and comfort. A new diesel engine is also said to be in the works that will replace the 2.5-litre unit, while the company also plans to introduce an automatic version on the next generation model. The new Innova could make its debut at the 2016 Auto Expo in the country and have an official launch soon after, with prices expected to see a significant increase over the outgoing model.
