The 2015 Thar facelift has apparently already reached dealerships and gets a new soft top along with silver inserts on the dashboard.

Mahindra Thar Facelift Dealer Spied
The 2015 Thar facelift gets no aesthetic upgrades apart from a redesigned soft top

Just last week we reported that Mahindra has been working on the Thar facelift for the 2015 model year and it now seems that the updated lifestyle SUV has arrived at dealerships ready for sale. If these images are to be believed, Mahindra has already sent out the 2015 Thar facelift to dealerships with a soft launch expected in the following days. However, the Thar facelift is nowhere close to the expectations that we had in mind.

While the automaker has not tinkered around with the aesthetics, the 2015 Mahindra Thar facelift comes with a redesigned soft top that has been given a slight angle at the rear. The soft top comes with transparent plastic windows on either side; while the side steps are now finished in black adding to the overall rugged appeal. On the inside, the dashboard gets silver inserts on the centre console and is the only change. If this is indeed the Thar facelift, then Mahindra has surely disappointed a lot of its prospective customers.

The updated Mahindra Thar was expected to get more upmarket interiors, drastically different from the current layout along with improved quality of materials and plastics used. There were also reports of the automaker working to improve the overall ride quality on the off-roader, after receiving feedback from existing customers. In terms of powertrain, no changes are expected on the existing engine options and the SUV will continue with the 2.5-litre CRDe diesel motor producing 105 BHP and 247 Nm of torque, and the 2.5-litre DI diesel engine producing 63 BHP and 195 Nm of torque. We expect official communication to come from the company soon.
