Volkswagen Motorsport India has officially revealed the new Vento Cup Car that will be the new donor car for the next season of the one-make race series. The race prepped Vento Cup car will be replacing the Polo R Cup that has been doing duty till now with a host of upgrades including a 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine tuned to produce 180 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque, paired to a race spec 6-speed DSG gearbox, sending power to the front wheels.

The Volkswagen Vento Cup Car qualifies with the mandatory FIA regulations and gets a roll-cage, racing seats, six-point harness, fire extinguisher as standard fitments. The race spec car also runs on high-octane fuel. Compared to the stock version, the Vento Cup does not get any significant exterior upgrades, apart from race tyres as well as the blue and white livery on display.

Volkswagen has currently opened registrations for the Vento Race Cup with the event divided into 3 categories namely Junior, Master and Pro. Prices for the Junior costs around Rs. 8 lakhs, while Master starts at Rs. 12 lakhs and Pro starts at Rs. 14 lakhs (all prices excluding taxes an safety deposit). In comparison to the Vento Cup, the regular version is capable of producing 105 PS from the 1.2-litre TSI and 1.6-litre TSI engines. Volkswagen is scheduled to launch an aesthetically updated Vento in June this year.
