Royal Enfield Continental GT Test Drive Review
New engines will give the bikes additional power and will be more reliable

Royal Enfield has been showing good signs of growth after Mr. Siddhartha Lal took the helm of Eicher Motors (it owns the motorcycle brand) as the CEO. He has constantly come up with new ideas to make the brand do better and to improvise in the areas they are currently weak in. Due to these improvements, Royal Enfield has seen a strong surge in demand for its bikes and it beat Harley-Davidson in terms of global sales. In order to improve things further, the Chennai based motorcycle maker plans to invest Rs. 500 crores this year on variety of activities.

Royal Enfield plans to set up two new technology centres in Chennai and the UK to develop better products in the future and to improve the quality of current vehicles. It also plans to increase its production capacity to reduce the waiting period for its bikes. However, the most interesting development is that it plans to introduce at least three new models in the year 2016 which will be based on two new engine platforms. The first engine is a parallel-twin which is rumoured to be a 750cc motor. The second motor is a 410cc single-cylinder overhead cam engine which would feature on a scrambler style model.

The new technology centres are very critical for the brand. These centres would work more on new product development and wouldn’t concentrate much on the production process. The UK based centre would help them design products fit for world markets and these products would stand up to global standards. Designing of the bikes might also be done at the UK centre.

Some famous people from the motorcycle industry have joined the company recently. These include former Ducati designer, Pierre Terblanche and former Triumph product manager, Simon Warburton. The newly recruited people are a part of a newly assembled team which will work on future products of the company. All the developments show that Royal Enfield is very important for Eicher Motors and that it will continue to support the brand with full zest.
