Ford has also imported the 2016 Endeavour in India for testing purposes

All set to compete against the Toyota Fortuner in the premium SUV space, the 2016 Ford Endeavour (Everest internationally) was recently caught testing in Indonesia displaying the different colour options available. Scheduled to make its Indian debut during the last quarter of 2015, the new generation Endeavour will be imported via the Completely Knocked-Down (CKD) route from Thailand and will be equipped with the all-new Terrain Management System for effective off-roading.

The 2016 Ford Endeavour certainly looks a lot more grown up and American with its dominating stance. The chrome induced grille will also be highly appreciated by buyers in India. To be available in Two-Wheel Drive and All-Wheel Drive options, the SUV will be available with three engine options internationally including the 3.2-litre TDCi diesel engine churning out 200 HP and 470 Nm of torque; while the lower variants get the 2.2-litre 4-cylinder TDCi diesel producing 150 PS and the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol motor producing around 235 PS.

Based on the Ranger pick-up platform, the new generation Ford Endeavour will also see a major upgrade to the interiors. A richly built cabin covered in beige, the SUV comes loaded with Ford’s SYNC 2 tech, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, sunroof and much more. The Terrain Management System is very similar to the one found on Land Rover SUVs which should make it efficient to use. While imposing SUVs have always been a favourite among Indian car buyers, the Endeavour might just carve a niche for itself against the Fortuner in the segment.
