The 2015 Ford Figo hatchback and sedan will be launched soon and according to the grapevine, the sedan will carry the nameplate Figo Aspire.
The new generation Ford Figo hatchback and sedan siblings will be launched in India soon and a lot of buzz is being generated by these vehicles. A huge number of spy pictures of these cars are floating around on the web and a lot of information is being revealed. The latest buzz is that the new Figo sedan will be called the Figo Aspire. The vehicles will also get new engines now that will boast of better performance as well as fuel efficiency. While the Figo sedan will be launched first in July this year, the hatchback will be launched later on in September. The interiors of both the vehicles are largely inspired by the EcoSport and Fiesta.
The next generation Ford Figo petrol variants will be powered by the same 1.2-litre engine. While the current engine is called DuraTec, the newer models will carry a TiVCT badging because the engine will now come with variable valve timing. In the current state of tune, the unit gives out 75 PS of power but the new Figo petrol will be churning out almost 85 PS of power. The diesel variants will be powered by the 1.5-litre TDCI engine that also powers the EcoSport and Fiesta. The older 1.4-litre unit will be axed now. The 1.5-litre engine generates 91 PS of power but the engine might get retuned for better fuel efficiency.
Ford is launching these two vehicles in two segments that are seeing a lot of growth since the past two years. The Figo hatchback will be pitted against the Maruti Swift, Tata Bolt and Hyundai Grand i10 while the Figo Aspire will be fighting it out with the Tata Zest, Maruti Swift DZire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent. Pricing will be a key factor for deciding Ford’s fate with the new Figo siblings because the market is very cost-sensitive. The 2015 Ford Figo hatchback and sedan models will be manufactured at the company’s new Sanand facility.
