The new Volkswagen Vento will be coming with significant cosmetic changes and improved gear ratios. The new compact sedan coming from the automaker will make use of the 1.5-litre diesel engine too.

Volkswagen Vento Facelift Changes
The new Vento will get a wider bumper and bigger air dam

Volkswagen gave the Vento a mild update in 2014 where the sedan got new headlights and alloys. The company is now testing a properly updated Vento that will be launched later this year. The new Vento is expected to come with many exterior revisions apart from a few mechanical changes. Spied testing again in Pune, the Vento test mule comes with a makeshift bumper that actually hides the real changes that Volkswagen has made to the front of the vehicle. The very first thing that we notice is the placement of the grille and the twin chrome slats that remind us of the Passat. The front bumper is slightly wider now and it makes the Vento look Jetta-ish. The bonnet is completely new since it gets one crease on each side now.

The side profile of the 2015 Volkswagen Vento will remain most likely the same while the rear bumper will also get a minor revision and a new chrome strip running across the bumper will be added. There won’t be any major changes to the interiors though. The Vento comes with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine. The turbocharged petrol and diesel engines also get a dual-clutch automatic transmission in the form of DSG and Volkswagen is likely to retune the gear ratios so that the Vento provides improved drivability.

In other news, Volkswagen is also developing a new compact sedan that will be slotted between the Polo and the Vento. The new sedan will compete with the Maruti Swift DZire, Honda Amaze, Tata Zest and Hyundai Xcent. The new compact sedan will also get the same 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine. Since the German auto giant has started local assembly of the said engine, it will help them price the new sedan competitively. However, we feel Volkswagen might offer it in a slightly lesser state of tune on the compact sedan to differentiate it from the Vento.
