Royal Enfield has added black colour to the colour palette of the Continental GT. The moves comes after Harley-Davidson Street 750 beat it in December 2014 sales figures.

Royal Enfield has been on a dream run since the past few years. The recent changes by the MD and CEO of the brand have worked very well for them. The Indian motorcycle maker plans to open up a new factory in order to reduce the waiting period as well as start new technology centres to develop better technology and to work on quality improvement. The brand will also expand its portfolio by launching a couple of new models in the next few years. This will help them increase their lead over Harley-Davidson by a bigger margin in the coming years.

Royal Enfield recently updated the colour options available for most of their bikes but didn’t change the Continental GT colour options. But after falling behind the Harley-Davidson Street 750 in terms of December 2014 sales figures, they seem to have realised that they need to work on their flagship bike. As a result, they have added black as a new colour option on the GT. The black coloured Continental GT with brown coloured seat looks the part and oozes class. This broadens the appeal of the bike and will attract customers who found the red and yellow colours too flashy for their liking. Bookings for the black coloured GT have started from today and there is no change in the price.

The Continental GT is the most advanced Royal Enfield bike till date. It is equipped with world-class components such as Brembo brakes, Paioli shocks and Pirelli tyres which take the café racer’s riding experience to a new level for a RE machine. The 535cc engine produces 29.1 BHP of power and gives it the required punch and then some. The riding position is a bit committed but once the rider gets the hang of it, it feels reasonably comfortable. We hope that the addition of a new colour helps boost the Continental GT’s sales although we are waiting for the company to give it a bigger twin-cylinder heart.
