The Regera is the world’s most powerful hybrid supercar ever

Koenigsegg has showcased the mad Regera at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The Regera is a hybrid supercar. That’s not all, it is also the world’s most powerful hybrid supercar ever. The vehicle looks absolutely gorgeous and the styling philosophy is similar to other vehicle’s in the Koenigsegg stable. The front fascia of the Regera is beautiful and curvy and one wouldn’t even think that this is a hybrid. From the side, it looks plain sporty and the uniquely designed alloy wheels add lots of appeal to the character of the car. The rear of the vehicle is again racecar-like with the large diffuser, centre-mounted exhaust and the thin tail lights.

The Koenigsegg Regera is powered by the same 5.0-litre bi-turbo engine that also fires the Agera. This V8 unit produces 1100 HP of power and over 2000 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to three electric motors that produce an additional 700 HP of power. The electric motors come with a liquid-cooled 9.27 kWh battery pack. The battery pack weighs in at 115 kgs. The Regera does not come with any transmission and the drivetrain directly powers the rear axle. The Regera comes with Koenigsegg Direct Drive which reduces energy losses by up to 50%. This hypercar is capable of touching a speed of 400 km/hr in under 20 seconds which is too fast indeed (Ferrari’s LaFerrari takes 15 seconds to do 0-300 km/hr while the Porsche 918 takes 23 seconds).

The smallest of the three motors is connected to the crank and it makes 214 HP of power. This motor is used as the starter motor for the engine and fills the torque curve at lower RPMs before the turbo kicks in. The other two motors directly drive the rear wheels and each one of them produces 240 HP of power. The Koenigsegg Regera comes with 19-inch alloys at the front and 20-inchers at the rear and the brakes are made up of carbon ceramic. According to the company, the vehicle isn’t designed for aggressive track driving and it can double up as a luxurious mega car. The Regera is very light weight at 1628 kgs with all fluids plus three electric motors and a battery pack.
