2015 Renault Lodgy MPV
The Lodgy offers the feel of driving a sedan and not a big MPV

Renault is set to plant its foot in the MPV space in India for the first time with the introduction of the Lodgy. The Renault Lodgy is expected to be priced above the Maruti Ertiga and Honda Mobilio, which are currently ruling the rooster in the compact MPV space but will definitely undercut the king of the pack, Toyota Innova. Renault is pretty confident about the success of the Lodgy as they have been able to cement a good name in the car market thanks to the high selling Duster. Renault claims that the Lodgy will be one of the segment’s best MPV, that will set a new benchmark, offering the performance of a sedan with the space and convenience of a MPV.

We recently test drove the Renault Lodgy which you can see HERE, and were certainly not disappointed. Renault India has started accepting bookings for the Lodgy in India for Rs. 50,000/- and in case you do not intend to buy the car, the whole amount spent on booking will be refunded completely. The vehicle is definitely a very practical MPV that can suit the needs of large families as well as for carrying loads of luggage when going on a road trip. The Lodgy will definitely appeal to all classes of people with its impressive ride quality, that soaks up the worst of bumps with absolute ease and the feel of driving an ordinary sedan and not a big MPV.

The MPV offers a neutral styling element, which somewhat grows on you with time. It is bigger than the Ertiga and has the longest wheelbase (more than the Innova), thereby resulting in a very roomy cabin. Many parts of the interiors have been brought over from the Duster, but the overall plastic quality is definitely much better than the same. The seats are very comfortable in all three rows of the cabin, which has been an issue with other MPVs. Further, the cabin is extremely versatile and the seating can be played around with to quite an extent. The second and third rows are foldable and one can even completely remove the third row if required. With all the seats upright, the Lodgy has 207 litre of boot space, which can increase to 589 litre of space if the third row is tumbled.

We expect the Lodgy to clock good sales figures for Renault and help the company gain a stronghold in the country. Renault’s presence in the market does need to be ramped up if they look to catch the eyes of more buyers.
