The GD250N and GD250R are single-cylinder offerings from Hyosung that will compete primarily against the KTM Duke 200 and RC 200 models.

With the much-awaited Benelli launch over and sales commenced all over the country, DSK Motowheels now seems to have shifted its focus back to its first partner Hyosung and will be launching a range of new offerings in the coming months. The South Korean manufacturer has imported two units each of the GD250N street fighter and the GD250R supersport single-cylinder motorcycles in the country for homologation purposes as per the import data. The bikes were brought via the CKD route and will be assembled at DSK’s facility in Wai.

Starting with the Hyosung GD250N, the street fighter motorcycle bears a striking resemblance to the KTM Duke 200 and will be competing against the same and a host of other models in the segment. Based on a truss frame, the GD250N is powered by a 249cc 4-valve, single-cylinder engine that belts out 28 BHP of power at 8500 RPM and 24 Nm of torque at 7000 RPM, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike is capable of doing the 0-100 km/hr run in 9 seconds and weighs a light 145 kgs, providing good power-to-weight ratio.

Coming to the fully faired Hyosung GD250R, the supersport made its debut last year and uses the same underpinnings as the GD250N. With a sharp and striking fairing with a dual headlamp cluster, the GD250R lends a big bike appearance but power has been scaled down 27.6 BHP at 9500 from the same 249cc single-cylinder engine while torque has witnessed a marginal rise to 24.1 Nm at 7000 RPM. Keeping things light the bike weighs 155 kgs, 1 kg more than the RC 200.

Both the Hyosung GD250 models get USD forks at the front and a monoshock set-up at the rear, while braking duties are performed by 300 mm and 230 mm discs at the front and rear respectively. There is no ABS even as an option, which is surely disappointing. The GD250 twins will be competing against the KTM 200 twins (till the Duke and RC 250 are launched) and are expected to be priced between Rs. 1.80-2 lakhs (ex-showroom) in the country.
