The extended warranty scheme is only limited to the Figo and EcoSport models and are likely to extend to the new generation Figo twins scheduled for launch this year.

The extended warranty period covers mechanical & electrical failures & its labour charges

In a bid to reduce the cost of ownership and also enhance the entire ownership experience, more manufacturers are now offering longer warranty periods on their vehicles and the latest to join the bandwagon is Ford India. The American automaker is now offering an extended warranty period of 5 years/1,00,000 km (whichever is earlier) on the Figo and EcoSport models from the earlier 4 years/1,00,000 kms. The warranty covers all mechanical and electrical failures as well as the labour expenses that will be carried out during these repairs.

However, the new extended warranty will not cover any periodic maintenance services, regular wear and tear on components and accident repairs. Owners of the Figo and EcoSport are also given the option to extend their warranty period by one or two years, as long as the vehicle is under the warranty period of two years or 1 lakh kms. At present, the extended warranty period is only applicable to the smaller offerings, leaving the Fiesta, Classic and Endeavour with the 4 years/1 lakhs kms extended warranty option.

Both the Figo and EcoSport are the popular selling vehicles for Ford India and providing the extended warranty service will only help improve the cost of ownership for these vehicles. With the all new Figo Aspire compact sedan and hatchback models set to launch in the coming months, the automaker is likely to offer the extended warranty scheme on the new models as well. Apart from the new Figo twins, Ford will also launch the new generation Endeavour later this year.
