The Vitara Brezza launching next year in India may get the new petrol engine

It seems that Suzuki has invested quite a lot of time and money to develop new and latest engines for their portfolio of upcoming cars all over the world. At the 2015 Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, Suzuki first showcased their new 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine which is installed in the iK-2 hatchback concept. The Japanese manufacturer received a positive feedback from different industries regarding their new engine and the petrol motor was heavily appreciated.

To add on to their new petrol engine launches, Suzuki on the opening day of the 16th Shanghai Motor Show has revealed a new Boosterjet engine, which is its new 1.4-litre direct-injection turbo petrol mill. The motor show in China which is being held from 20th April to 29th April 2015 also has the iK-2 hatchback concept displayed at the Suzuki showcase. According to the car and engine manufacturer, the new Boosterjet offers dynamic performance along with high fuel efficiency figures. This is mainly achieved by reducing the average fuel consumption with the help of direct injection, high torque from a turbocharger and also a very compact design.

The Boosterjet is a lightweight engine, which with an optimum layout will be able to fit into even the most compact engine bays. The weight-reduction technology used in the engine development will also keep performance figures up. The new set of Boosterjet engines will initially only be available in China, but will also be launched on global models as well. The engines are expected to come to India too, but only in premium products that Maruti Suzuki will launch in our shores. Expect to see it on the upcoming compact SUV and the next generation Ciaz due in 2018.
