Not India bound, the Daihatsu Terios facelift gets an updated front fascia, more equipment and premium looking interiors while the engine option remains the same.

The 2015 Daihatsu Terios is a rebadged Toyota Rush compact SUV

Daihatsu Indonesia has launched the 2015 Terios compact SUV facelift in the country with cosmetic updates to the exteriors along with new features added to the list. Essentially, the Terios is nothing but a rebadged Toyota Rush but accommodates seven seats instead of five as seen in the latter. A rear-wheel drive model, neither the Terios nor the Rush are India bound and are primarily sold in South East Asian markets.

Coming to the updates on the 2015 Daihatsu Terios facelift, the compact SUV gets a new three-slat chrome grille, projector headlamps and LED lamps which are now standard on all variants. The range-topping R and R Adventure variants get an aggressive looking bumper with LED daytime running lights and additional side skirts, both of which are not available on the Rush. Moving to the sides, there are no changes save for the new chrome detailing around the windows while the rear gets a new bumper, revised spoiler, new LED brake lights and an antenna. There have been additional chrome touches all around the car for a premium appeal.

On the inside, the new Daihatsu Terios has gone premium in its appearance and gets a piano black finished centre console and door trim, multi-function steering wheel, fabric upholstered seats while a new touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and GPS navigation has made its way onto the equipment list. What does not change though is the powertrain with the 1.5-litre petrol motor producing 109 PS of power and 144 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic gearbox.

While the Daihatsu Terios would be an excellent product for the Indian market, the lack of a diesel heart keeps the model away from our country. Nonetheless, Toyota is working on a new compact SUV for the Indian market that is likely to be a sub 4-metre offering and initial work has already commenced on the model with Japanese officials flown in to evaluate the Indian market and its requirements.
