The Draken inspired next generation TVS Apache will draw power from a new 200cc single-cylinder engine that will churn out around 28 BHP of power.

The TVS Apache 200 will be launched in the coming months, possibly in the festive season

As per a recent report online, President-Director at PT TVS Motor Company Indonesia, Anandakrishnan R has conveyed to the Indonesian media that the next generation Apache will be launched in India in the next couple of months (probably ahead of the festive season but seems unlikely to come so soon) while the ASEAN market launch is scheduled by the end of 2015. Spilling beans on the much awaited product further, he added that the 2016 Apache will be heavily inspired from the Draken X21 concept that was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo.

The report further states that the upcoming Apache will be powered by a 200cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that is expected to churn out 28 BHP of power and 20 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. With the power figures sounding impressive, one can also expect competition rivalling features including fat forks, monoshock rear suspension, front and rear petal disc brakes, an all-digital instrument cluster among other tech. ABS is likely to be offered as optional if not standard in the Indian market.

TVS has a lot of catching up to do in the quarter-litre space against the likes of KTM, Bajaj and Honda while also face competition from Hero which will be coming with the HX250R next year. Given the Draken inspiration, a street-fighter will most likely be the next generation Apache’s body style while the automaker could also look into the possibility of bringing a full faired version in the future. A price tag of around Rs. 1.5 lakhs (ex-showroom) can be expected on the Chennai based automaker’s flagship bike.
