The 2015 Tata Safari Storme facelift has been launched in India and this facelift is actually not major. The changes on the SUV include slightly tweaked interiors and a marginal hike in engine power. Changes to the exterior are quite negligible. The front face of the SUV gets a new grille with ‘STORME’ engraved on it. The front bumper gets a small revision in styling. The tail gate gets a chrome garnish with ‘TATA’ embossed on it. There are no visible changes to the side profile and the design of the alloy wheels is also exactly the same as the previous model.

The Safari Storme is powered by the same 2.2-litre VTT VARICOR diesel engine which now churns out 150 PS of power at 4000 RPM and 320 Nm of torque at 1700-2700 RPM. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The vehicle will get an automatic gearbox in the near future and the automatic version might get a higher torque rating of 400 Nm. The vehicle also gets a new self-adjusting clutch of 260 mm diameter and it is said to be much lighter in use. The Safari Storme is available in four variants – EX, LX, VX and VX 4×4. Airbags are standard only on the VX variants. The fuel tank capacity of the vehicle is now 63-litres unlike the outgoing model which had a smaller capacity of 55-litres.

The 2015 Tata Safari Storme is available in the following colours – Urban Bronze, Arctic Silver, Arctic White, Pearl White and Astern Black. The dark red colour has been discontinued. The SUV comes with features like Harman infotainment system with Bluetooth, iPod connectivity, radio, USB and AUX. The Safari Storme now gets a full-black cabin with Java Black upholstery. The centre console gets a silver finishing. The steering wheel is a new one which is similar to the one on the Zest. Some other features include rear parking sensors and projector headlights.

Tata Motors is offering a warranty of 3 years or 1 lakh kms and an extended warranty package can be opted for another 1 year or 50,000 kms (whichever is earlier). The vehicle’s arch rival is the Mahindra Scorpio but the Safari also has to fight it out with the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Mahindra XUV500 since these SUVs are also priced similarly. While the Safari and Scorpio are proper full-sized body-on-frame SUVs, the Duster and Terrano are compact SUVs while the XUV500 is a crossover with a monocoque body, all of them pack in quite a punch.
