The Pulsar RS 400 is identical to the RS 200 in design and will be available in the market by the first quarter of 2016 as a more practical alternative to the KTM RC 390.

2016 Bajaj Pulsar RS 400 Test Mule
Expect a price tag of around Rs. 1.75 lakhs on the flagship Bajaj Pulsar

After witnessing the first set of pictures of the Pulsar RS 400 just a couple of days back; a new image has now found its way onto the interweb showing the upcoming flagship offering from Bajaj Auto doing one of its test runs. The most expensive Pulsar was caught testing on the NH4 near Pune sans camouflage but missed out on body graphics and the ‘RS 400’ moniker to conceal its identity. With the RS 200 already on sale since two months now, it makes little sense to test the bike void of the badges and decal. Hence we can safely conclude that this is indeed the Pulsar RS 400.

Already showcased as a concept at last year’s Auto Expo, the Bajaj Pulsar RS 400 will be sharing design traits with the RS 200 including the dual projector headlamps, LED eyebrows, sharply styled full fairing, three-part instrument cluster and web-spoked alloy wheels. The stubby exhaust and crystal clear lens LED tail lights have also been retained from the RS 200, sigh. In terms of changes though, the RS 400 will see a major mechanical upgrade with the most obvious being the larger 373.2cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor powering the bike and producing close to 40 PS of power.

The Pulsar RS 400 could also get dual-channel ABS to keep all that power in control, while the kerb weight of around 180 kgs can be expected. By the looks of it, Bajaj is ready to introduce its new flagship offering in the country anytime soon but is going to wait it out till the first quarter of 2016 between the January-March period to launch the bike. While an Auto Expo debut is likely, prices are expected to be in the range of 1.70-1.80 lakhs (ex-showroom), marginally lower than the KTM RC 390. As it is with the Pulsar RS 200 and RC 200, the RS 400 will also be a more practical version than its orange sibling.
