The 1.4-litre turbocharged engine is tuned to produce 135 HP of power and will feature on the Abarth Avventura and Punto Evo models, with the launch likely around the festive season.

All speculations on the power output can now be put to rest

While Fiat India may not be emerging as a winner in the volumes game, it is certainly working hard to gratify the enthusiasts and carve out a niche brand name in the country. With the Italian auto giant working to introduce the Abarth Avventura in the country later this year, speculations were rife on what the power output will be. Nonetheless, much to everyone’s pleasure, these new spy shots emerged online finally put an end to all rumours, confirming the fact that the performance variant of the Fiat crossover will be making 135 HP of power.

The spy shots caught near Pune shows the ‘135 HP’ sticker on the Abarth Avventura test mule that pretty much is what everyone was expecting. Power is sourced from a 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The same engine and power output is also expected to be found on the Abarth Punto Evo that will make its debut later this year alongside the Avventura. This is by far the best news to come from the Italian automaker in the country who has brought appreciable power to mass-market models. With the superlative handling prowess seen on Avventura and Punto, there is now exploitative power to play around.

In terms of cosmetics, we do not expect to see major changes on the outside and the Abarth Avventura test mule was carrying neither, save for the revised exhaust tip. We do expect the Scorpion and T-Jet badges as well as Abarth alloy wheels to be offered as optional (if not standard) on the Avventura. We have already seen the Abarth Punto Evo with all the exterior upgrades including the badges, body decals and an all-black interior. As the new range-topping variant in the Avventura petrol lineup, the Abarth version will also get essential safety features like dual front airbags, ABS, EBD and disc brakes on all four wheels. Prices remain the only concern now and we will get a hint of the same as we get closer to the launch.
