The second generation Ford Figo is based on the KA concept

The Ford Figo Aspire was recently unveiled to the media and boy it’s an impressive vehicle. The car is expected to do well in the extremely competitive compact sedan segment in India, if Ford prices it very competitively that is. After driving the compact sedan, we are holding high expectations from the upcoming Figo hatchback as well. However, you might not have to wait that long to get your hands on it as the upcoming model is set to be launched in the country later this year.

Taking heavy design inspiration from the Ford KA that is retailed in Brazil, the second generation Figo hatchback which looks more premium and has a lot more street presence, will replace the current generation model. Coming to the powertrain, the hatch will come with two engine options including a petrol and diesel unit. The 1.2-litre petrol engine is now more powerful than before, outputting 88 PS of power and 112 Nm of torque. The diesel mill on the other hand will be a 1.5-litre motor that churns out 100 PS of power and 215 Nm of torque. Both these engines with the same power figures will also be available on the Figo Aspire compact sedan as well.

The upcoming Ford Figo hatchback will promise impressive fuel efficiency figures and might also be made available with the 6-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. The hatch is expected to be yet another splendid offering from the American car major and will most likely do well in our market as well because the current model has stacked in many followers over the years. The upcoming model will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10, Nissan Micra and Tata Bolt.
