A lot of buzz is flowing around the much-awaited Hyundai Creta which is based on the ix25 that is sold in the Chinese market. The Creta is called a global vehicle but according to Hyundai officials, this SUV will not be launched in the Australian market. The company is still thinking of a proper compact SUV for that market and most probably it is going to be a new model based on the Intrado concept that was showcased to the masses in Geneva in 2014. The Hyundai Intrado comes across as an urban SUV and has very funky styling which quite reminds us of the Nissan Juke.

The Hyundai Creta is big on features and comes with three engine options. It could have been a perfect car to introduce in Australia too but the Korean automaker is likely to use the same ix25 name-plate on the new SUV that is undergoing development. There is still a lot of time for the new SUV to come out though, and it’ll be fully ready in approximately two years time. The new vehicle will be manufactured at the company’s Turkey or Czech Republic plants. The new Tucson will be launched in Australia in a couple of months and even that is being produced at the Czech Republic plant.

The previous generation Hyundai i20 is still being sold in the Australian market and it is produced in India itself. The new i20 is not being launched there due to some issues at the Turkey plant where constant currency fluctuations are causing disturbances. So while Australia will have to wait for two years for a compact SUV from Hyundai, the Indian market will witness the launch of the Creta this month itself on the 21st and it will give a head-on competition to the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Mahindra Scorpio.
